Day 3: There is no cycling God - Farina to Leigh Creek

Distance - 67kms
Climbing - 203 metres

A weather change came through in the evening, so wind blew all night. We rode into a very strong southerly all day. It was bloody hard work.  The 20 odd kms into Lyndhurst was painfully slow and took a couple of hours.  Was knackered when we got in to Leigh Creek, so we decided to stay in one of the workers dongas at the pub.  it was pretty good.

Leigh Creek was built by the Government 50 years ago to support the coal mine, which supplies the Port Augusta power station. The power station, and therefore the mine, is due to close soon, which will unfortunately mean the end of Leigh Creek. A pity, it seems a pretty good place.

Body feels stressed at the moment as it tries to adapt to the workload.  Elevated heart rate all night, probably dehydration. Digestion is slowing (don't feel as hungry) as body is learning to burn fat supplies (plenty to choose from with me!).

Food and water pickups have gone without a hitch, thanks to GPS technology.

Brian and I have run out of things to talk about. I'm surprised it took this long.

I am having the usual problems with my undercarriage/mangina, which was bloody sore by day's end. Went to the dispensary at the hospital for help.  The pharmacist swore by Sudacrem and sorbelene. Soon find out if she's right.

Just a photo of the first thing we'd seen in a while

Fingers crossed!
