Day 1: A challenging start - Level Post Bay to Muloorina Bore

Distance - 50 kms
Climbing - 93 metres

A hot day to start with, in the low 30's.  Level Post Bay is in the SE corner of Lake Eyre. At 20 meters below sea level, I expected it to be very salty. It's instead very coarse sand and quite firm, at the shore anyway. The road to Muloorina Station bore is hard going; sand and corrugations through clapped out cow country.

Muloorina Station bore is an oasis in an otherwise barren landscape.  The bore was sunk early last century, and now feeds a wetland that attracts wildlife from far and wide.

Tomorrow will be 110kms to the ruins at Farina.

Doug and Todd leave us in the morning. Thanks lads for getting us here, and keeping us well fed and watered.
